Deacons are a bridge between the church and the world—connecting the sacred and secular in ways unique to those called to this ministry. Our members are of and live in the outside world, and their ministry is ideally suited to those who hunger for a deeper connection with their neighbors and with God. In this session, our panel will discuss how deacons can help connect parish ministry to the world.
This workshop, hosted by the Episcopal Parish Network, will provide an overview of the diaconate and why we call deacons into ministry. It will also explore what deacons do after their Sunday duties, the many possibilities for diaconal ministry, and the value of having a deacon. Participants will leave this workshop with resources and suggestions about how their congregation can engage deacons in your outreach and connection ministries. Join the conversation and come with questions!
